In this monthly workshop, we will explore a therapeutic yoga style that is designed to resolve your chronic hip and spinal tension. Instead of stretching and strengthening our muscles, we will support the body in specific ways to fully embody the release of the deeper spinal muscles. On a physical level, tight spinal muscles can increase loading of the spinal joints and alter their alignments. On a physiological level, they can impair communication between your nervous system and your vital, digestive, and reproductive organs, which can lead to chronic stress, anxiety, restlessness, and fatigue. The architecture of the human spine is what sets us apart from other mammals, in that it allows us to stand upright and walk on two feet. Not only does our spine bridge the communication between our brain, our sensory functions, our internal organs, and our motor functions, it is also considered the main passageway of subtle energies by the ancient yogis. In this workshop series, we will explore the functions of the spine from both the western and eastern physiological standpoint, yoga asanas (postures) for healthy, supple spine, and daily practices to care for the spine. The series is divided into 3 parts:

Session 3 - Neck/Shoulders, November 3rd

In this 4-week program, you will learn valuable self-care techniques, stress management tools, and yoga therapy to effectively manage pain and symptoms of fibromyalgia. Curriculum includes education on the psychology of pain, tools for insomnia, gentle movements, and meditation techniques. The program is designed to put the power back into your hands, so that you can feel more relaxed in your body, sleep more restfully, and maintain stable energy.
